Hi there! I’m Smriti Suresh, a 24 year old Data Scientist, ready to start my next adventure in Malmo, Sweden as a working professional. It seems as though the universe conspired to help get me here after graduating Grad School. I would love to build a community of like-minded people in SWE and hang out talking tech and everything in between, so hit me up, tack!

I am passionate about Natural Language Processing and all things data. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science & Engineering from Mahindra Ecole Centrale (now Mahindra University) in Hyderabad, India, I knew I wanted to delve into the intricacies of how natural language and computing combine to produce mind-boggling results (GenAI is insane right now :o).

One of the highlights of 2024 for me so far - I have a Master’s degree now?! Seems quite unreal thinking about how almost 2 years have gone by in a flash and here I am, receiving this honor. I am a proud BU Terrier Alumni now! This occasion was doubly memorable for me, as my parents were present at the Graduation Ceremony and got to witness all the festivities that came along with a BU Graduation. Here is one of my favourite clicks of the day, fulfilling the age-old BU tradition of Stepping on the BU Seal at Marsh Plaza upon successful graduation! BU_Grad

Coming to my Bachelor’s degree, I was fortunate enough to be presented with the Merit Scholarship award from my university 4 years in a row for consistently remaining the top student of my batch throughout my undergraduate degree. As the cherry on top, I was deemed the Valedictorian of my Undergraduate Batch (2018-2022), obtaining the highest GPA among all students in the graduating batch as well as the Computer Science department. As a congratulatory honor, I was presented with 2 Gold Medals from Mr. Anand Mahindra and Mr. K. T. Rama Rao at the Annual Convocation Ceremony of July 2022. Convocation

As a highlight of 2023 and one of my proudest moments, I got to present my first research paper at an international conference! I’ve always been interested in research, undertaking several projects right from my undergrad days. One of those projects, excitingly enough, was recently accepted and published into one of the most renowned conferences - the ACM Web Conference 2023 as a part of the WWW’23 SocialNLP Workshop track. More about that in the Projects section.

My favourite courses at BU during my Masters were the Graduate level courses of Natural Language Processing (can you tell I’m into NLP yet) and a Machine Learning Practicum course. I completed a really cool Data Science Internship last Summer at BU Spark! and have worked part-time as a Technical Engineer and a Grader in 2 Data Science courses last Fall at Boston University.

Coming to the fun stuff, I love reading, dabble in poetry sometimes and make a killer chai (that’s tea btw). My spirit animal is the panda - chaotic, adorable and hungry in all aspects of life.

Hope this website piqued your interest somehow! I had loads of fun creating it :)
